Nick Bosa’s Early Life and Background:
Nick Bosa is the son of former NFL player John Bosa, who played for the Miami Dolphins. Nick was born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and attended St. Thomas Aquinas in Lauderdale with his brother Joey Bosa. He was a top state player for multiple years and started playing football for all four of his school seasons.
Nick committed to Ohio State University as a five-star recruit. In his freshman year, he played all 13 games, recording 29 tackles and 5 sacks. He became a starter for the Ohio State Buckeyes in his sophomore year. In his junior year, he had core-muscle surgery and missed the rest of the season. He decided to skip his senior year at Ohio State to enter the 2019 NFL Draft. In 2017, he was named a unanimous First Team All-Big Ten and the Smith-Brown Big Ten Defensive Lineman of the Year for his 32 total tackles (14.5 for a loss) and a team-leading 7 sacks.
Nick Bosa’s NFL Journey:
Nick Bosa signed a four-year contract with the 49ers worth $33.5 million, including a $22.5 million signing bonus. He debuted in the NFL in Week 1 against the Buccaneers. In October, he was named NFC Defensive Player of the Month for his outstanding performances. As a rookie, Bosa finished the regular season with 47 tackles, 9 sacks, 1 forced fumble, and 1 interception in 16 games. The 49ers made it to the Super Bowl that season, with Bosa playing in the playoff games. He sacked Aaron Rodgers in the NFC Championship game. The 49ers lost the Super Bowl to the Kansas City Chiefs, but Bosa recorded a strip-sack on Chiefs’ quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
Bosa missed the 2020 season due to a torn ACL. He returned in Week 1 of the 2021 season, finishing with 15.5 sacks, 40 solo tackles, and 21 tackles for loss. The 49ers reached the NFC Championship but lost to the eventual Super Bowl winners, the L.A. Rams.
