Alex Iwobi is a professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder or winger for Premier League club Arsenal and the Nigeria national team. He joined Arsenal’s academy at the age of 10 and was promoted to the first team in 2015.
He made his first senior appearance for the club in a League Cup match against West Bromwich Albion in September 2015. He has since made over 50 appearances for Arsenal and has represented Nigeria at the senior international level.
Iwobi was born in Lagos, Nigeria, to Nigerian parents who were both former professional footballers. His father, Chuka Iwobi, played for the Nigerian side of Shooting Stars FC while his mother, Martha Iwobi, played for the Nigerian women’s national team. Iwobi has two sisters, Marie and Clarisse.
